Question Is it possible to rent a bycycle?

Hi,

I will be spending a couple of months in Chennai, wonder if anyone has looked into the possibility to rent a bike there and just explore the city that way. Lots of other transportation options has been mentioned here before, like local trains, buses, autorickshaws, taxi... but I wonder if it is feasible to just riding and explore the city that way. I have never been to India before, but I have already heard alot about the traffice situation there. Any feedback?

thanks

lin, you will be better off buying a good bicycle for yourself rather than renting one. To be honest the traffic in India would seem more chaotic than what anybody could portray, so get here first and see for yourself

Hej lin, greetings from Gothenburg!

I'm not Swedish, but my girlfriend is. We're heading to Chennai in a couple of weeks. Will you be there yet? We're just passing through, but I know how the Swedes like to stick together, so lemme know if you want to hook up there.

Hej Sadhu

Greetings from Värmland. It seems you guys will be in India quite ahead of me, how long do you stay in India? As my wife and I won't be there until mid June.

Interestingly enough, we will also begin our Indian experience with Chennai. I will need to spend my first 4 weeks in India in Chennai(work related) but after that we plan to spend 4 more weeks touring southern India(no specific itenery planned yet).

Could you suggest a good place to get a good rate (Sweden to Chennai)? I have been researching on that everywhere the last two weeks. So far, I have not heard anything under 8500 SEK.

And what does your itnery look like? (I have been working on mine the past couple of days) it will be nice to hear your stories on your indian adventure.

regards
