India To France on a Royal Enfield?

Hi guys!!

I need your help!

I'm french student (21 years) in France and in only 9 days, I will arrive in New Delhi.
I want to buy a Royal Enfield to visit your country (I allready come 5 times with my parents)and to ride it back to France via Pakistan, Iran, turkey, grece, Italy and France.

Everythings is ready but I'm little affraid.

I want to know where I can buy a SECOND HAND Royal Enfield 350 or 500 (25 years old MINIMUM) at good price. Via internet seller told me 85000 roupies. I think (and some people say me that it's too much expansive).

I haven't so much money for that travel.

I think I can find Royal Enfield RESTORE AS NEW for 40000 50000 INR.

Maybe you can help me and tell me if you know good seller and how long time he'll need to prepare the bike, because if it possible I would like participate at the Royal Enfield Himalaya Rassemblement (starting 24 June).

Thank you very much

Moderator Note...
I changed the title of your thread; I think it needed the words Royal Enfield to get the attention of the bikers!

Welcome to IndiaMike!

Thumbs down

I would be more worried about travelling through Pakistan and Iran. How will you get the paperwork in your name? 85000/- is more than a new one.

yes it will be hard to pass border with Pakistan because i don't have carnet de passage. If I'm lucky it can work...

Thank you for the mail of lalli but it was him who spoke about 85000INR.... maybe because I'm foreigner.

If you know other place in New Delhi, I listen you.

thanks

one of my friends recently sold his '96 model for just Rs 20,000 (Chandigarh Registration). there are plenty of them available here, let me know of your requirement and I will look for something. every day, thousands are selling and buying new one's.

I know Chandigarh between New Delhi and Himalaya.

For this price, the only thing I want, is that motorbike (500cc) has been built before '80(cause of immatriculation's problems in France)and that "frame" (I'm not sure of that word) is not broken.
After I can make it restore as a new in New Delhi or in other city.

I was thinking of your personal safety, kidnap, marauding bandits etc.

The best money can buy

Hi, if you happen to visit Hyderabad I can sort you out with excellent enfields of the vintage you are looking for (25-30 years) for half that price.

I don't believe you will be able to execute your trip, as without a carnet de passage you technically cannot take the bike across borders. I researched the same trip 3 years ago and eventually decided against it because I envisioned having to bribe every border control person to get the motorbike across the border.

come to karol bagh and try there...

actually these old models would go for 8-15k depending on the condition..the rest is the price of restoration...

so I guess you can easily find one at below 40K mark...

Plus internet is not the best place for this..as maximum Indian mechanics are not tech savvy and you cannot find even 10% of the stuff online...some come to Delhi and explore Karol bagh...haglle hard..thats your best bet..
