How much would a driver plus car cost to go from Agra to Jaisalmere?

I haven't been in India for a few years, and have never taken a long car/taxi ride. Now my family (4 of us altogether) and will take a trip in Nov this year, we only have a couple of months, so i'm wondering if it's worth hiring a car plus driver to take us thru a few places in from Agra or Delhi into Rajasthan. And what will the driver do when we're on a camel trek?

Yes, it is possible. If you hire a car like Toyota Innova, cost should be around 11 INR/KM. Around 200/250 KMs charges a day are minimum + small amount for driver tip + toll charges when on the highways + driver night charges. Driver may just wait for you guys in his car when you are on Trek, but the charges will be full time. You can negotiate a deal with your Hotel/Travel agent. It should not be an issue.

The driver will hang out with his buddies, or maybe even look for some local fares to supplement his income. But you will have to pay for those days.
