I'm 6' and I was fine in the back of an Ambassador. I was there alone but I don't think it would be a problem with just two. I agree with getting out and walking and stretching regularly. Ten hours might seem like a long car trip but it has its advantages over a train - you get to go at your own pace, stop and get aout any time you like to eat or see the sights and take photos.

From Bangalore, I know of someone who hires it out Torota qualis as this rate (This is from memory and could be a bit on higher side than the actual!)
- Approx @ Rs 8 per km - Minimum 250km per day (can be aggregated over the period of journey) - Day driving charger Rs 250 per day - Night driving charges Rs 250 per night for nights where he has to drive If you leaving him in cochin, you will have to pay his return to Bangalore as per the above rates.

My best advice to anyone.......
Dearest Emma21:
A 6 foot 2 person can easily fit in an ambassador. When I go to India, (and my husband and I are big people) we will ONLY travel in an ambassador. They were well made for the often bumpy roads. Of course any car you rent may be a "clunker", but when you see it, you can always ask for one in better condition if its not your cup of tea! The back seat of an Ambassador is like sitting on a very comfortable sofa and there is plenty of leg room, as they are pretty wide cars as well. There is a part of real India in every Ambassador. Yes, there is nostalgia about them, but also about the trains, and for good reason! You won't remember that Indica, or that Toyota, etc when you get home. But that glorious Ambassador will always live in your memory. See this: http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...00/ppuser/1431 |

My hubby had no problem
We just did the drive in the backseat of one from Jaipur to Agra to Delhi and were both fine. He has crazy long legs and didn't have a problem with leg room at all. And the AC worked great in ours.
