Hampi to Mumbai
Hampi to Mumbai
Hi, any ideas how to get from Hampi to Mumbai? I was hoping a train would run from Hospet Jn to Mumbai but it doesn't appear to be an option. Are there buses or do we have to go through another city to get to Mumbai? Thanks for your help!

There is a train straight from Hospet to Mumbai twice a week (Monday and Saturday), but the time of departure is not convenient (2AM). Or you can get to Hubli by bus or by train from Hospet (about 4-5 hours ride), there are some trains to Mumbai from there, it seems the most convenien one is 1018 CHALUKYA EXP/1036 SHARAVATI EXP, starting at 15:15.
Past the point of no return...

5 hours by bus from Hospet to Raichur, then a train from Raichur to Mumbai.
Or 3 hours by taxi from Hampi to Adoni, the station before Raichur, click on the train number in the above link, I'm fairly sure all the trains call at Adoni about an hour before Raichur.

is taking the bus an option?
Are there direct buses from Hampi to Mumbai? I was hoping to have the day in Hampi and arrive in Mumbai around 11am. Perhaps this is a little unrealistic. Does anyone know how frequently buses go from Hampi (or Hospet) to Raichur? Thanks.

Mumbai is about 700 km from Hampi by road, so it'll take about 12-15 hours by car and even longer by bus (if there is any buses - i don't know exactly). Our trip from Goa to Hampi by bus (a bit more than 300 km) takes us 14 hours. If you really want to get to Mumbai faster - the only option I see is to catch an overnight train to Bangalore (it arrives at 6AM) and than take the morning flight to Mumbai.
