good price? Car & Driver hire in South India

Hi,

I am looking for a good deal on a car & driver from Chennai, through Tamil Nadu, and on to Kottayam, Kerala, from January 11-17. I contacted Welcome Tourrs (http://allindiatours.com/) and this is the price they have quoted:

Rs.16800/- (Rs. 2400 per day)
including parking, permit, Driver Allowance, fuel, tax etc.

Does this seem reasonable? I was thinking that it should be around Rs. 1800-2000 per day. Can anyone tell me what the price range should be (for an A/C car, two people, both long distance and city driving).

By the way, do we need an A/C car in January in Tamil Nadu and Kerala?

I'd appreciate any advice you all could offer!

I have recently returned from Kerala/Karnataka.
I think Rs.2,400 is a good price for A/C car with all the trimmings.

I have paid Rs 2,800 from Mysore to Kannur, one way.

Then Rs 2,500 from Kannur to Mangalore.

So your price is fine, don't you think?

Forgot to mention, the prices I paid included the inter-state tax.

In Ooty (Tamil Nadu) I pay Rs.1900/- a day for an a/c Toyota Qualis up to 80km.

It costs another Rs.7/- per extra km.

In Kochi (Kerala) I pay a lot less through a friend's travel company.
