Getting to Jaisalmer

Can someone please advise the best way to travel from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer? I was thinking of hiring a driver. Any ideas on how much this would cost and how long it takes? Also can you fly from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer?

You cannot fly, as of now the border areas are still sensitive to commercial flights so do look at the other options.

Train
Two trains every night from Jodhpur
Car
Journey time is about five to six hours and the cost, including some sightseeing, should be around INR 4000/-, all inclusive.

Why don't you take a car from Agra and drive through Rajasthan. Some costs are given in an earlier post.

Or the bus. Should be around 160 rs if i recall correctly. Leaves in the morning (around 8 or 9) and arrives in Jaisalmer at around 2 or 3 (pm).
