From Trivandrum to Varkala (or Kovalam)

Hi!

We will arrive to Trivandrum domestic airport next Sunday.

1) Do you know if there are busses going to the Central bus stand from the airport or do we need to take a cab or rickshaw... no use asking them because we all know the answer How much shold I pay por the rick. ride to the city (thampanoor).

2). If I want ot go to Varkala or Kovalam do I go to the central bus stand or to the other on that is behind the railway station.. I don`t remember the name.. I mean I would like to take a local bus because the distance is not much to either Kovalam or Varkala. We will arrive to the bus station about 5.30 P.M....and it`s Sunday. I presume the are local busses going quite normally although it`s Sunday?!

a) There are busses to both the bus stops from the stop in front of Airport. So it depends on your luggage and will to travel in the bus at that time, that would be the decisive factor.. And infact you may as well get lucky to find a auto returning back to the city who would be willing to accept metered fare..

b) Kovalam busses start from the city bus stand in East Fort and Varkala busses start from the central (inter/intra state) bus stand near Railway Station

I am arriving 1 July in Trivandrum direct from USA. So . . . need a place to orient for a day or two. Kovalam, or Varkala? How to get there from arport? any lodging tips? (I'm a mid-range kinda guy)

I stayed at Hilltop resort on the cliff at Varkala & loved it, basic large clean rooms in a great location, however this was 10yrs ago, things are bound to have changed somewhat. KK

You can take a train from the railway station or go by bus, but don't ask me from where the buses leave, I never went by bus to Varkala.

well, I'm coming direct from USA, so it's a taxi for sure. what's the rate for that? Or should I just head for Kovalam for my first few days?

Also, I've received no replies from several email attempts at contacting hotals in both places from the IM listings
