Ellora to Manmad

Hi,

Having managed to fit Ellora into our trip in December, I have a couple of questions. We plan to hire a taxi in Aurangabad to take us to the fort and Ellora and then onto Manmad to pick up the 23.35 Pushpak Express.

We would like to spend as much of the day as possible at the sites and not at Manmad station. Will drivers be willing to do the journey after dark or is this inadvisable anyway? Does anybody know what this road is like?

If we do have to get to Manmad way too early, are there any decent options for eating etc? Retiring rooms for a rest?

The road is fine apart from the last 15-20 KMs where it's a bit bumpy!
I don't think you will have a problem getting a taxi to do the run after dark.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. Manmad doesn't exactly feature in the guidebooks!

@@By any chance, are you taking this Train for going to Jhansi/ Khajuraho?

**I feel, from Ellora, you should come back to Aurangabad and then 'very leisurely' take the 561 Passenger which departs from Aurangabad at 18.10 hrs. and reaches Manmad at 20.55 hrs. Please note this train in the process also allotted 75 minutes to cover the last 15 Kms. stretch between Ankai and Manmad.

**In fact after 17.00 hrs., rather after sun-set, there is nothing much to see in Ellora!!!

The 561 Passenger doesn't come up on the Indian Railways site - do you know what classes this train has?

If it doesn't appear on the Indian Railways website, it doesn't have any 'bookable' class, and will only have unreserved 2nd class seats.

What Steven said is correct. This Train contains fully Unreserved Coaches.

I personally feel, this is somewhat better than Road Journey, more so when your train leaves from Manmad at 23.40 hrs. & you have nothing much to do in Elorra after 17.00 hrs.
