Drive from Ratnagiri to Hyderabad

We will be in India over the Xmas period and are planning to drive from Ratnagiri to Hyderabad (AP).

CAn this be done in one day (leaving early in the morning and arriving by late evening).

What is the total road distance.

And what will the driving conditions be ? Road, Weather etc.

It's about 700 Kms, you'd do well to average 50 Kms an hour, so I think it would be very difficult to do the whole journey in one day.

I have done Ratnagiri to Hyderabad in one day. Its a little long (about 650km) but if I remember right, we started at 4am and were in Hyderabad by 7pm, with about six stops for meals, short breaks etc.

You have to go on the Kolhapur road and take a left about 40/50km before Kolhapur, then go via Solapur and then Hyderabad.

About 300 km of this is on State Highways and the rest is on National Highways. State Highways will be generally in a worse condition.

Weather this time of the year will be pleasant. No rains, no excessive heat.

It is a little tiring, but definitely doable. Other option is to make it halfway to Solapur overnight, there are decent hotels just off the Highway.. and Solapur/Hyderabad is 300km.

Solapur/Hyderabad Highway condition is usually very good.
