Cycling Srinagar to Leh - July 12-16, 2011

Hi all,

This forum is great.

I've been doing a ton of research about the road from Srinagar to Leh. I plan on leaving Srinagar morning on July 12th and arriving in Leh the evening July 16th. I believe I have answered almost all of my questions except one very important one!

How do I get myself a decent bicycle in Srinagar for a decent price?

I would love to rent a bike for a "one way trip"...or...buy a bike that I could sell back in Leh...or...return a bike to Leh that needs to get there...etc...etc...

I'm an experienced cyclist on all types of bikes in all kinds of environments, and I don't need anything fancy. A bike with good tires and decent gearing that won't fall apart in 5 days will make me happy. I'll just have one backpack that I could carry on my back (though a touring rack would be superior).

Any leads are extremely helpful. (bike stores / people selling / tourist agencies who might have extra bikes for this purpose)
