Classic motorcycle export

Hi all,

Searched this forum on keywords like 'vintage', 'classic', 'motorcycle', 'motorbike', 'export' etc. to no avail. The idea is to come over to Delhi and buy myself an affordable classic bike like e.g. Norton, AJS, Matchless or any other interesting brand and model and send it back home. Is there anyone out there who's done this? Does anyone have addresses of good dealers, exporters, etc. Can anyone give me some good advice on the matter?

My info is a little bit old, but I think it's still the same.
you need permission from the vintage car club of India to export a vintage motor vehicle.
they never give it.
people I know who do this take the bike apart and smuggle them out.
also, nearly every machine you'll find will be bastardised with local parts, hand made parts, and some bad workmanship by this time.
It would be a grand adventure, but you're unlikely to have as much fun as agrivation I'm afraid.
