Change spokes in India (problems with removing cassette)
Hi,
I am Viktor from Gothenburg in Sweden. Four months ago I started a trip on my bicycle from Sweden to Singapore. I went through Europe, Turkey, Iran, UAE and flew to Mumbai. Now I am crossing India from west to east (Dwarka to Kolkata). I am now in Rajkot. Lately I have had some bad experiences with the spokes. I am quite bad with bicycles so I always rely on repairmen when it comes to bike problems. How can you go on such a trip without knowing anything about bicycles? Well, it might be stupid, but it has been fine until now However, one of my spoke broke around 300km ago and noone here can repair. The thing is that the shimano cassette has to be removed, and I dont have the tool to remove it. I have been to like 10 different repair shops in different towns and nobody can take it off.Well, after the spoke broke I stabilized the tire again and there is no problems cycling with the broken spoke. My plan is to cycle on until so many spokes are broken that I cannot cycle more. Then I plan to send the bicycle to Thailand and buy myself one of those heavy Indian bicycles that can be repaired anywhere However, it would feel a little stupid to send it away only because the cassette cannot be removed.I would just like some feedback on my problem and maybe a suggestion to a solution! Thanks, Viktor |

Can you upload a photograph so that we can have a idea about it.
Let us see the cassette and the broken spoke. Once its decided that it cant be removed or replaced then you can send it to thailand. |
