Question Buses

Sorry if I'm repeating a question that's already been asked but I've just searched the sight and can't find anything!

I'm just wondering if it is possible to book bus tickets from abroad. I know this can be done for trains but I can't find any websites for buses....

Buses are run by individual state governments and private operators. Unlike the railways, they are not under a single management. Hence there is no single common website for buses, but some state govts. like Himachal, U.P., etc. do have them.

You cannot book bus tickets on-line.

You can't buy Indian bus tickets from abroad.

You can buy them only from India...and only from the starting point of the journey..no web booking is possible.

While this may be generally true, the HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) is an exception. It has introduced computerised advance reservation facility at many places in H.P. and also at Delhi and Chandigarh. From places like Shimla and Dharamsala, one can book in advance for buses originating from other places in the state.
