There are coupes with four berths in each and a sliding locking door. Also at the end of the carriage a 2 berth one. I'm a bit vague about how many in total in a full carriage, because the train I frequently catch has half the carriage as 2A and the other half as 1A. There are 3x 4 berth coupes, and 1x2berth one in half a carriage. There are no side berths, only windows and the corridor.

It's frustrating to see members trying to help you, all you have to do is look in the 'train information' thread and you'll find all the train times and fares for the Mumbai-Goa-Kerala sections plus a whole lot more.

Train information

Thanks Steven, for posting the link - it is frustrating too - we want to help members but I just can't remember the exact wording for links! Sometimes,I suggest they look in Forums and hope they find them themselves. Still, Train Information is a very obvious title!!

Ignore my moaning, it's my time of the month.

It's great that everyone answers the questions, and I really don't mind, but I could see what the next 3 questions were going to be.

I think new members don't realise how much info is available in the sticky threads.

That's why aleast I wait for hour or so before responding to "ONLY" train relateed questions....But how to make new visitors read thru before posting is a question... Our IM'ers try to help as much as they can as far as I know ....

(Steve, your dedication & the most sincere effort you make is remarkable & I am not sure how to make "Train info" link much appealing in our IM so that new visitors first read thru if they have any query with indian railways ....

gianni66... please don't ever feel bad for answering a question.

But please also feel free to tell the questioner that it may have been asked and answered a hundred times. It is a custom of the site not to jump on newcomers, but one can still say 'no' nicely

Now... Can anybody tell me about the chances of catching malaria on an Indian train?

I don't think we can, it's there for all to find if they look.

However, I shouldn't moan at new members, and I should remember that I was once a new member and I wasn't too quick to find my way around the website.

(Damn, I always feel bad after I moan. )

LOL, Nick - and if you want a serious answer (which I know you don't!!) I agree with Steven - too much air is moving around in trains - whether it's a/c, fans, or wind through the windows. Mozzies don't have a chance to settle....

OK, I got the lesson!

I've been a "new member" too and I also have been searching for information about India and Indian trains especially, and I'm so glad to have gained the experience "on the road" (better, "on the tracks"!) to provide information to others now!

However... I would like to know if Malaria tablets are necessary travelling in March, who can respond?

Gianni

The simplest thing is just to post a link to the thread in which the enquirer will find his information.

In many forums, this would be done and the new thread closed. And nobody would mind!

Sundae --- please do not let us put you off the site; that is not our intention at all. Do not take it personally that you've sparked a debate on what to do about the Too Frequently Asked Question .

That's what the site is about, and, ultimately, the free exchange of information is more important than tidiness --- although mods do lurk around, merging threads and moving posts

You will get a response but it may not be as polite as you would like.

Malaria is probably the second-most-frequently-asked-question on the forum. Use the search facility!

Respond = reply

but also:

respond = react
