Bus timetables for Ahmedabad - Udaipur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer

Does anyone know or know where to find tabletables for the above 3 legs of my trip??
Only travelling on bus on these legs as i've read that's it prefered to trains on these specific legs??

These sites may be of some small assistance to you:
http://www.rajasthaninfoline.com/rinfo/rtp.htm
http://www.udaipurplus.com/outandabout/buses.htm
http://www.rsrtc.gov.in/time_table.asp
I recall that, when I was using them last year, they were frequently "down", so you may have to keep trying. The second one is, I know, very good for buses frm Udaipur, but I don't know if it has any information about buses TO Udaipur (which is what we were after). However, it will give you an idea of the length of journey and the frequrency, even if it won't tell you the times of deaprture.
Good luck!

Hi guys,
Any ideas of frequency of buses between Chittaurgah and Udaipur? Anything early in the morning I tried the links further up, but some don't respond.
Cheers,

Buses from Jodhpur to Udaipur
Hey,
just wondering, are the buses in this direction as often (every 2-3hours)? apparently its 8 hours, but probably better than changing trains loads!
Thanks for any help!

Overnight AC sleeper bus from Udaipur to Jodhpur?
Hi,
A group of friends and I would like to get from Udaipur to Jodhpur.
Here's our itenerary, Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Udaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Delhi, and we've already gotten train tickets for the other legs of travel.
Can anyone advise on a good site to make bookings for an AC bus? How long is the journey and how much would it cost?
I can't seem to find any online operators. Or any number to call? If not, is it highly likely that we can just make a booking with any operator when we arrive in Udaipur? We only have 2 days there.
Thanks,
Audrey

Thanks!
We were planning to do the travelling at night to save on time. If we take a car and visit the places you suggested, how long will it take? What's there to see at these places anyway?
And car rental services will be readily available in udaipur? How much will it cost for a group of five?

There is a thread here on busing in India: Online bus ticket reservation sites ; you'll need to realize it doesn't tell you much as such though. There are many companies and many of them won't be, or inadequately, online. It's still very much a show up and get a ticket affair. The good news is this is usually quite possible. It never hurts to go looking for a ticket as soon as you know you'll want to be moving on of course, i.e.: try to make enquiries in any given town as soon as you can.

MIK777 said you can typically book a bus to the next destination on the spot and you don't need to book in advance. Does anyone, perhaps MIK777 know if it's the same with hotels?
I will be in Rajasthan in October, pretty much backpacking solo and my route is essentially the same as listed in the title. Start at Ahmedabad to Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur, and maybe even Kota? since it's Duseera.
Is it possible to get a hotel after reaching the destination or do you advise to book in advance? I'm not sure how many days in each city I'll be spending so kind of hestitant to book well in advance.
Also one other question: What do you all suggest, bus or train?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. anyone going to be there in October?

I'd say a hotel should be easy to find on the ground.
Thing is, others will say you need to book ahead. Go figure. (And note again that Mik777 posted his comment in 2005.)
Maybe and obviously if you're picky about it, booking ahead can't hurt. I guess around (Indian) holidays things can get busy, particularly in Rajasthan and its favorite destinations (pretty much all you mentioned). I have trouble imagining everything to be full though, but then I've not been for some time.

ya you can do that.. i am sure there lot of hotels.. check out bottom rates ( tariff + tax + any hidden charges = bottom cost ).. check out rooms before you book.. ask which services are free and which cost extra ( not inclued triff )..
