Bus from Mysore to Ooty
Does anyone know if there is to book a luxury bus from Mysore to Ooty in advance, perhaps even from the U.S?

The buses from Mysore to Ooty run regularly - I am told that there's no need to book.
You can get a car and driver for about Rs.1500/-

Thanks. I loved your photos. I've visited India in 1972. Some of these photos look like the Cochin area. I'm guessing.

I am sure there are lots...as these 2 places are well connected and are important tourist locations.
The road is thru National parks and is a good ride. You can see a lot of elephants, deers and if u r lucky, a tiger also. |

Thanks. I checked out their site. Do you know if this is the only bus company connecting major cities. Their bus leave either at 0700 or 1500. I read somewhere about 4 luxury buses. Thanks, again.

this is the Karnataka government bus operator. there are a number of private bus operators who run this route. also tamil nadu govt would run buses on the route.
you can take a chance by going to the bus station early. however if you value comfort and peace of mind make sense to book |

booking early isn't necessary, as far as i can tell.
there is a private bus depot close to the gov't bus stand, and across from the gov't bus stand are several travel agencies with multiple ooty options. i'm driving mysore-ooty this thursday (nov. 24th) if anyone is interested in catching a ride. returning sunday night.
