Boat from Diu to Bombay

I have read on a thread somewhere that the beaches at Diu are very nice and was looking to maybe put it into my itinerary . Then i thought wouldn t it be good if you could get a boat crossing from Diu to Bombay , so i looked through my LP and couldn t see anything about it ,so was wondering if anybody knew of a service that does this .

Unless a ferry service has started recently, there is no ferry between Mumbai and Diu.

You could check with our member indiawise who owns the Resort Hoka at Nagoa Beach, about 8 K's from Diu town.

I can also recommend it as a great place to stay - nice setting, good food, bar, comfortable rooms and impressive music collection.

I see from your posts that you will be travelling in India for four months so road/rail travel to and from is probably your best bet.

Check out all the threads on Diu if you're interested.
What a long strange trip it's been!

Have we gone full circle?

I think this was the first question I asked on Indiamike, I seem to remember a funny telephone conversation with a man in Diu.
.
SOS: Missing Person...

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

Looks like it, Steve

-- and the Sam-Link website hasn't been updated for over a year so it looks like the Bhavnagar-Mumbai fast cat was a non-starter.

I think after that, next comes me mentioning the inexpensive Deccan Air flights from Mumbai to Bhavnagar to save the surface trip around Cambay.

There is no ferry service from Mumbai to Diu. As far as the beaches in Diu are concerned, they are great!!!!! Definitely worth a visit.

sorry -m2-

I didn't read your post on the Air Deccan flights from Mumbai to Bhavnagar.

With prices starting at 731 rupees that's a real bargain for people going from Mumbai.

Indiawise, if you see this, what's the current price from Mumbai to Diu by air.

Steven ber...thanks for that (re)post....had a good laugh ....I can just imagine the conversation and the sound of the guy's voice. I deal with this form of ‘communication' all the time..but got it figured out now!

1. Nope there is yet no ferry to/from diu to anywhere..or from jamnagar etc.
2. The airfare diu to mumbai is about Rs.5,000
3. The Deccan airways BHAVNAGAR-Mumbai flight is about Rs.1,800. The plane is the same as jet-airways.(ATR) And I enjoyed my flight because the plane was new and clean and the airhostess real nice, because it was soo much cheaper.
4. The taxi fare from Bhavnagar to Diu is about Rs. 1,600 onwards. Its 200 km and takes 3.5 to 4 hours on this new recently laid road. And no, I refuse to be held responsible if it’s all potholed and broken by the 'next' time. And so if it’s two persons or more then it definitely makes for saving money even if you take a taxi. The bus costs Rs.80.
5. Whilst the flight IN, from Mumbai to Diu direct by jet airways is good, since it takes just 1 hour. The flight Diu to Mumbai is via Porbander and its a slog of nearly 3.5 hours by the time u get to Mumbai. In this sense the return from Bhavnagar could be considered..especially if u had a visit to Palitana in mind.

ak74_2@msn.com...No I wouldn't say that the Sunset point was 'stunning'. I don't know, maybe I don't see it that way 'cause I live in Diu. Diu I don't find stunning. It’s an easier sort of onslaught on your senses! Nothing spectacular I find here & maybe more the kind of scenes or sights that one could savour in a more laid back fashion.

The US$ fare (that tourists have to pay) for the direct flight from Mumbai to Diu is now $117.

indiawise.

Can tourists pay the Rupee fare on Deccan Airways?

Can you advise on how to get to Diu from Veraval?

Train info -

Train 1464 departs Ahmedabad (M, Tu, Th. Sa & Sun) at 08:15 and gets to Veraval at 17:10.

Train 1466 departs Ahmedabad (W & F) at 08:15 and gets to Veraval at 17:10.

Train 1463 departs Veraval (M, W, F, Sa & Sun) at 10:15 and gets to Ahmedabad at 18:25.

Train 1465 departs Veraval (Tu & Th) at 10:15 and gets to Ahmedabad at 18:25.

2A = Rs 813
3A = Rs 523
SL = Rs 197

Nagoa beach is good and gets lots of Indian tourists playing volleyball; cricket and seeing who can get the sea furthest up their ankles.

Gomptimata beach is long and deserted.
