bike rental. tour goa, karnataka, kerala.
Hi there!
I have planed a biketour from goa to kerala and back. So far i am wondering about a few things: Is there anything to consider to get from goa to kerala with rented bikes? Do I need special licence/insurance or anything? Can Some time ago i notices licence plates (yellow-on-black). Do they have some sort of restrictions? BTW: anyone can provide bike rental adresses in SOUTH goa, all around Margao,Benaulim,... would be perfect. Thanks in advance. |

License: Driving License issued by any Indian State or a International Driving License would do.
Typical Rental Self Drive vehicle as per law (Some dont follow this) should have the license plates in the color you mentioned. If that is the case the owner of the vehicle MAY require to apply for a Permit for traveling to Kerala. However if the vehicle is a white board this does not apply, You could also consider buying a bike and selling it after your journey. You will surely get more suggestions to consider from other IMiker's too. Please do come back and let us know about the trip and how you went about solving the permit and other issues after your trip. |

As far as I know, there is no such thing as permit for bikes and I have not seen a single yellow board bike in my life.
Yellow board is for commercial purpose and white board is for private use. Although renting bike is commercial, I have not seen a single bike which is yellow board. Make sure the papers are in order (RC book) and you have first party insurance / comprenshive insurance to the bike and also have a pollution certificate ready. Ofcourse you require a valid license. Cheers! |

Self-Drive Car: http://img.metblogs.com/bangalore/fi...8/p1010029.jpg Of-course as i said earlier, Some of the rentals might not actually follow it and may have a white board or a yellow one. Why don't you just speak with the small rentals, as long as you are ready to pay a bit extra they would give you a solution May also help : MyBookmark-1 |

fdisk - Maybe its not a good idea to take a yellow board two wheeler to other states as you might need to take seperate permits. That's my thinking to avoid permits issue. White board doesn't need any permits. |
