Hi,
I am planning a 3-4 day trip from Delhi to Auli on 11th January, 2018.
Is this the right time for a good snowfall? Also how is the weather, I have been told that going to Joshimath at this time is not good.

If the time is right what is the correct route to take if planning to go via public buses from Delhi.

Route 1:
Delhi - Haridwar - Rishikesh - Devprayag - Srinagar - Rudraprayag - Karnaprayag - Nandaprayag - Chamoli - Pipalkoti - Joshimath

Route 2:

Delhi - Dehradun - Joshimath ( How is the frequency of the buses on this route ? )

Thanks,
Richie

Also please let me know of any other good place easily accessible from Delhi, where I can witness snowfall.
Thanks

No need to go to Dehradun, the route is via Haridwar/Rishikesh. About snow, forget it as there has not been any worthwhile rain or snow, even the skiing festival of mid Jan will most likely be postponed.

If you want snow at places easily accessible from Delhi like Nainital, Musoorie or Shimla, then wait for Feb, look at weather report, and pray in the meantime.
If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day

Auli by Public Transport & Weather

Lots of clouds around, expect rainfall in the next couple of days and that may be followed by snowfall - so fingers crossed for all the snow lovers..
As for the route - Delhi - Haridwar - Joshimath is good, you don't have to break it in so many steps if there is no plan to visit places at the halts mentioned.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa

No chance at all of any rain or snow, so better avoid crossed twisted fingers and keep them well oiled for next time

As expected, Auli ski championship scheduled to start on Jan 15 is postponed and will likely be held in Feb, if the weather gods smile.
