Amritsar to Dharamsala by bus

I understand from older posts that there is a direct bus via Pathankot.

Where I can find the bus timetable, can I pre book online, and what will be average travelling time in August?

Is it better to do it by train to Pathankot,and to continue from there by bus?

There are frequent buses from Amritsar to Dharamshala. But your second option is better- Amritsar to Pathankot by train and then by bus. There are many many buses from Pathankot.

Thank zou for the link, however according to it there is no direct bus Amritsar ß dharamsala, nor anz bus Pathankot ß Dharamsala ß that sounds weird to me!

Does anyone know if there is an overnight Bus from Amritsar to Dharamshala or when is the last Bus leaving Amritsar to Dharamshala. Thanks in advance.

I have been on a direct bus from LowerDharamsala to Amritsar which starts at 5AM and reaches Amritsar before 11AM. Do not know about the reverse direction timing.

I am from kolkata, planning to travel amritsar & from there moving to dharmshala for 2 days & dalhousie 2 day & back to kolkata.
any one can till me what will be the best route i should take by bus HRTC/ Punjab roadways.
I will be traveling with my wife, mother & father & 1 4 yr old daughter in end of OCT 2012.
also if any body can guide where to stay in budget hotel.
