Train wise the best option is the Garib Nawaj Express but that would get me into Old Delhi at 20.20 and I'm not sure if 1hr 20 would be enough time to cover any delay. That said, it is the same station and not many stops between Alwar and Delhi so maybe it could work.
We caught the 4312 ALA HAZRAT EXP from Alwar to (Old) Delhi which was scheduled to leave at 10:54, arriving at 14:35. It was an hour late.

Assuming that you're on the 4610 JSM DLI EXPRESS can't you just stay on the train?

Hi ocean,

I could indeed, in fact, as I'm coming from Jodhpur, the Mandoor express was my original choice however faced with spending another full day in Delhi waiting (having already spent 2 full days there) or getting to see something that I haven't seen (Alwar) and that I want to see, I decided to take a detour that would allow me to stop for a few hours in Alwar.

I hope it's worth it!

Understandable choice. Have you thought about a safari drive in Sariska? It's only 30kms from Alwar and a safari only lasts three hours. I loved the laid back atmosphere of Sariska and we saw quite a lot of wildlife.

Actually I did give it some thought but I saw a couple of frightening quotes for the trip. What should I expect to pay? Also is there anything else worthwhile in the surrounding area that could be seen in the time I have?
