Agra-Jaipur-Delhi in Cab
Agra-Jaipur-Delhi in Cab
Hi Guys,
I am making a trip to Delhi in the end of August for sightseeing of Agra/Jaipur/Delhi.I am travelling with my wife and our 1 year old baby.
I checked with a travel agent in Bangalore. He said he can arrange the cabs at the rate of Rs.1800 per day (inclusive of all including driver bata, but excluding UP tax - I didn't understand this why). The min running will be 200 kms.
The cab is an A/C indica.
Is this an okay rate?
So here's the plan.
Day 1.After landing in Delhi airport travel straight to Agra via Mathura.
Day 2.After all sight seeing in Agra, drive to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikhri, reach Jaipur in the evening.
Day 3.At Jaipur, do local sight seeing, see the palaces. Go to Ajmer, Pushkar, do some shopping
Day 4.Again local sight seeing and shopping , pack off to Delhi in the afternoon.Reach Delhi in the evening.
Day 5.At Delhi, local sight seeing ,Lotus Temple,Akshardham temple,Red fort, Qutub Minar.
Day 6.Again at Delhi, do some more sight seeing - parliament house,India gate etc.
So the total will be around Rs.10800 in cab (exlcuding UP tax)
Is the rates okay? What can I bragain from him further.
Thanks,
Dileep

well, the rate should not be more than Rs.1400-1500 per day. Maybe lesser. Other dynamics remains the same. Ask him how much is the UP tax, my guss is around Rs.200-500.
Also confirm about Rajasthan and Haryana tax too as you will pass these states.

Thank you.Yes.he said the UP tax will be Rs.500.The Other state taxes are already included.
Can you suggest some places that I could see in Delhi-Agra-Japiur-Delhi sector, so that I can plan accordinlgy based on its location?
Thanks
Also if they say the min is 200kms per day, don't they charges extra for the extra kms if we cover?I understand that most time we won't be covering 200 km in a day , so there they stand to gain.

well in Delhi you can add Humayun's Tomb and Jama Masjid..
Parliament house is not open for visitors and the best you can get is a fleeting view while you pass from there..
For India gate, make sure that you go in the late evening..around 9 or late..to enjoy the local crowds..

I guess you want to say Maximum 200 Km per day..Dont worry, yopu have to calculate it like this..if you had the car for 6 days then its 1200 Km..

To be honest, you're already going to be very hard-pressed to see all the places you mention in the time you've allocated.I mean, sightseeing in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri and drive to Jaipur, all in the same day? Jaipur, Ajmer and Pushkar and a bit of shopping all in the same day?
Are you doing this for a bet?

I am not sure of the distances and hence I have shortlisted few of them.I will be staying in Agra for a night and can cover few places and the next day wile travelling to Jaipur , I can cover Fatehpur Sikri.I was told that it can be done.As far as Jaipur is concerned, please let me know of the distances and few places to visit.I will can spend 1 whole day and 1 half day in Jaipur.
Thanks,

well you can assume the distance to be in range of 200-250 KM between all the places..a driving time of 4-6 hours..i.e. Delhi - Agra - 4 hours..
Agra - Jaipur - 5-6 Hours
Jaipur - Ajmer - Not sure but I guess 4-6 hours
Jaipur - Delhi - 4-5 hours
Thank you Mr.Shashank, so Ajmer I have to skip out.Any other place to visit in Jaipur - The palaces should be in the city right?
Which is the best place to do shopping in Jaipur and Delhi (not the costly ones where we can do some shopping. My wife would be interested in knowing this)
How far is Pushkar?I also forgot to ask what is there to see in Ajmer?

I agree with Mickey, too much in too short a time.
I know you're not asking about trains, but consider the following.
First, turn you're Itinerary around.
Arrive in Delhi, do some sightseeing for the first day, then...
To Ajmer
Train 9106 departs (Old) Delhi station daily at 22:50 and gets to Ajmer at 07:25
See Pushkar
To Jaipur
Then you have the following options to get to Jaipur from Ajmer.
Train 9652, Ajmer 06:40 Jaipur 09:45
Train 2413A, Ajmer 13:55 Jaipur 16:20
Train 2016, Ajmer 15:50 Jaipur 17:35 (not Wednesdays)
Train 9105, Ajmer 20:28 Jaipur 22:45
All except 9105 start their journey in Ajmer, so should run to time.
You could just get a taxi from Pushkar to Jaipur.
To Agra
Train 2987 departs Jaipur daily at 06:10 and gets to Agra Fort at 10:15 (this train calls at Bharatpur at 09:03, you could get a taxi from Bharatpur to Fatehpur Sikri)
Train 4864 or 4854 (depending on day of week) departs Jaipur at 15:40 and gets to Agra Fort at 21:10 (this train calls at Bharatpur at 19:28)
Or get a taxi to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri.
To Delhi
The following trains are short distance trains and likely to run on time.
Train 2279, Agra Cant 18:55 Nizamuddin (Delhi) 22:00
Train 4211, Agra Cant 06:00 New Delhi 10:00
Train 2001, Agra Cant 20:30 New Delhi 22:30
.
The overnight train from Delhi to Ajmer, and the Shatabdi Express (2001) from Agra to Delhi are the most useful trains, both will allow more time for you to explore.

Pushkar is near Ajmer..I guess 15-20 KmJaipur has many places to shop, I do not remember exacly, but I guess I went to Bapu Bazaar..
In Delhi you can try Chandni chowk, however since you would be in Karol Bagh you can explore that market as well..
Bhai logo !!
I know a guy in Delhi who can provide cabs on very competitive rates. Is it allowed to give references on this forum ?
Pushkar is worth a visit. Its around 130 kms from Jaipur , well connected with express way. You can stay at Hotel Navratan, near Brahama Temple .
In Ajmer, there is nothing more than the Dargah. Holy place to visit. Ajmer is 13 kms from pushkar. Its advisable to park your car well before the Dargah. Otherwise you will be forced to pay around Rs 75/- as a parking fee.
while coming from Agra to jaipur, one can visit "Bhangarh" also. Its on Dausa road.
