Dudhia - A weekend destination
Dudhia - A weekend destination
Yesterday I was in leave. For the whole day I was in relaxed mood, watching TV and reading TR in Indiamike. After reading some awesome TR, I felt that I am selfish - I have no contribution to
enrich our great Indiamike. But what I will contribute? All the information that is required are available in IM to travel in India.
North Bengal and Sikkim is my best place. So here I am to start with Dudhia - A small hamlet in Mirik-Siliguri highway. This is most popular picnic place for local people. Dudhia is 31kms away from the New Jalpaiguri Rail station.
This place is 31 kms from the New jalpaiguri rail station. You can take any share vehicles towards mirik. There is only one wayside Inn of Gorkha Hill Counsil. What ever I can remember the name of the Inn is Gokul. They have only two king size room in first floor. Ground floor is mainly for restaurant and bar. Foods are awesome. Here is the contact number to book the Inn - 03542243371 and 9733378729.
Dudhia View point is just opposite of Inn. From here you can see the tail of River Balason.

On 2009 I went there in the month of August. We had a booking in Gakul. So directly from NJP we went to Inn by a share taxi. It was just 1 hour journey from NJP station. Dudhia is the place from where hill start rising. After reaching their we spent most of the time at the river bed.

Good start. keep the description & photos coming.
Ronak.
Ronak.
Next day early morning we started for Mirik. That was a really cloudy day. But on road we enjoyed too much. That was the first time I felt cloud was passing by me. From dudhia to mirik we stopped on every turn just to feel the nature.
Way to Mirik

When we reached mirik til then there was no sign to see the clear sky. We spent whole afternoon in mirik. Tested their local food. I liked that. Suddenly around 3pm it started heavy rain. So then immediately we started a return journey directly to NJP.
Mirik Lake

To start my very very little contribution in IM, I selected Dudhia, because I did not find any information about this place in IM.

Very nice, Soutam.
In October 2010 we came from Darjeling via Ghoom - Sukhiapokhri - Mirik - Bagdogra. This route is very scenic. We saw a river which resembles like the Balason - will try to post a pic later.
Keep it up.
All i got is this one, not sure although whether this is the Balason.
