Sholay, a classic for sure (1975) - Amitabh Bachchan at his youthful best (but he's still great, and getting good roles). His 'real life wife,' actress Jaya Badhuri, was his love interest in that film, too. Dharmendra was the other leading actor in Sholay, also youthfully energetic then!

There's a cute "tongue-in-cheek" tribute to a famous scene in Sholay in a newer movie (2007), "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" (JBJ): the sons of those two leading actors, Abhishek Bachchan and Bobby Deol (Dharmendra's son), both popular actors now in their own right, ride on a motorcycle with a sidecar, with the same music playing in the background, just as in Sholay! Also, Amitabh has a part in JBJ as a long-haired, colorfully-dressed strolling minstrel in the railway station in London, where a lot of the movie takes place. Great flick, too, with Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta (the action takes place in India and Paris as well). The double roles played by Bobby and Lara are fun to watch, too. (You can tell I like JBJ!)

Hey Punzelle - with you on this one - JBJ was underappreciated, in my opinion, it had a lot in it that was first-rate and pretty original entertainment! and those little inside jokes you can enjoy with just a pinch of Bollywood under your belt.

I really enjoyed Jhoom Barabar Jhoom as well. Great music - I am going to listen to it right now!

Luck by Chance was a fantastic film, and the in-jokes and cameos from all sorts of people were really well handled.

Mughal-e-Azam

The favourite Hindi movie - "Mughal-E-Azam"
Specially for dialogues, Act, huge sets And above all Actors.
The legend of Hindi Cinema "Dilip Kumar" And "Prithviraj Kapoor" acts And not to forget the most beautiful actress ever in Hindi cinema "Madhubala".
If I am correct the movie was completed in 14 years And till-date it is appreciated though it was released in the year 1960.
Must watch movie.

Yes, I saw it some time ago in NY at a film festival. I think it's an excellent movie. Nandita Das was there and I would say she accomplished what she said she wanted to do, which was to make a moive about violence which was not a violent movie.

Mai Madhuri Dixit bana chati hoon. Very watchable and fun film if you have seen a few bollywood films and want something different. About a village girl who wants to be a bollywood star like madhuri.
