'chor bazaar'(literally 'thieves market' in bombay used to be a good place for this), but the last i went there was ten years ago.
http://www.tourtravelworld.com/hot_s.../chor_bazaar:/ "No one is clear as to how this market got its name except that once a Queen called Victoria came to Bombay in her own steamer. Her luggage was carted down and the lady discovered, much to her dismay that her precious violin was missing. After a thorough search the instrument was finally found -- at one of the stalls in Mutton Street (next to Chor Bazaar) so the area came to be known as the Market of Thieves or Chor Bazaar. The genesis of this dwelling can possibly be traced to the days post the World War when poverty stricken families had to hawk their priceless heirlooms for money."

we used to look for old vinyl records not available elsewhere, and found quite a few, too.
and a friend of mine insists the hubcap he found for his old VW Beetle was the same one which had been stolen from outside his office! |

Captain I very much doubt the veracity of that story since it isn't in the history book! Still, a made up story very much suits the area. See what Merchant says..

Yes the palce mentioned by Capt. is to go for old vinyls. Insert a scratch filter circuit between the pre-amp & the power amp.

Found some really good vinyl!
Yep, It was me who started asking about Vinyl in India and now it turns out I happened to find a really good place for this.. In Cochin, Kerala.. if you go to Jew Town there is a family run antique shop who sells a lot of Bollywood records(grammophone) and they can practically find what ever you wish for... just ask around for the shop selling grammophone, I think it was called, Keralan Antiques...
