I am also very excited about this movie, but I have read some truly disappointing reviews on INDIAFM. The pace was said to be boringly slow, someone claimed it would drag and the interval after 2 hours came as a shock. Obviously the director could have done better in that deparment. The music was also said to be mediocre, and I must say that I was not swept off my feet either when listening to the soundtrack. I really hope this movie has not become one of those remakes where the team paid too much attention on the looks and forgot all about the narrative of the story. The old Rekha movie set a serious standard that should be hard to challenge I believe.

Definitely better than Rehka

i watched Umrao Jaan with Rehka one or two months ago.I believe that Aishwarya will be much much better because she is definitely a better actress and definitely more beautiful.Rehka was...like a sparrow , too short , well not the best actress and of course not like Aish I am sure she is jealous of Aish But the music is not sooo good as the first-original movie, the first`s was and are classics , this one are not so mesmerizing.Devdas had much better music.

Aish i love you!!!!!

So i've seen it yesterday - and the movie was great as soon as I don't understand hindi But Ash's managed to make me cry just by the emotion from her eyes. And of course she's so beautiful, elegante and a perfect tawaif (I was amazed). The music is not so all-time fav, as in old one, but good working in the movie. I prefer the new one to the old one - becouse I don't like Rekha

i don`t like Rekha too.Not an important actress , while Aiswarya constantly develops herself in acting and she`s sooooo beautiful

as much an aishwarya fan i am, but i tell ya... her acting was very very bad in bride and prejudice...too painful.

i think rekha had her share of good flics..though i think she should retire now. i dont like version 2...of her now.

Even if you have decided to watch this movie think HUNDRED times, but still if you want to waste your money, buy tickets and don’t watch the movie…!!!!

got this review by a friend of mine....
Aish's acting was "pathetic" and Abhishek was not given many chances to talk
well thats for the scriptwriter, ain't it? But poor fella, Abhi!

well I am not at all really looking forward to this movie...Aish is in the last place in my list. IMO she is like about to cry at every sentence of her character in the movies. well thats for me......I find the same scene with Meena Kumari...yes she is going to cry now...oh she is crying ...no...yes..I think thats in her character

well, for Aish...I know there are hunderds and thousands of fans and some are crazy like GC who wants to have a temple in her name. well if you are going for beauty....i think every Miss Universe shud have a temple in her name then . As for acting, for me, Aish is a BIG ZERO!

i saw the movie, it was a torture.
rekha could talk with just her eyes, she didnt even need dance moves to convey anything. aishwarya is beautiful no doubt but thr ends anything nice. she wasnt sensual, the music was too much hindi , whr was the urdu?? and alka's voice was too flat, the depth needed to sound sensual and inviting wasnt thr in her voice.
i love abhishek bacchan and went to see him in the movie, but he also looked a little sad after a couple of scenes.
the only thing nice were aishwarya's costumes!

i didnt like the arrogance of ash, anu malik the idiot and jp datta. they were shamelessly claiming that they have created masterpiece.

you gotta know the culture, language, awadhi music before making this kind of movie. only thing worse that could have happend to this movie was replacing ash with katrina kaif, anu malik with himesh reshamia and jp datta with karan johar

Havnt seen it yet and have no plans either,
The trailers on TV have put me off.
Ash is monotonus each and every expression is the same as the last. She is beautiful and that is just that nothing more

in the earlier version rekha was so beautiful and her every expression spoke a thousand words. to all those who dont like her I am no fan of hers either but this movie was something special. See the song dil cheez kya hai she had the tehzeeb and ada of lucknow

OMG that fashionable chick...she is good only for commercials and mag. photos. Please give her a seat in the audience when it comes to movies. But yes she is better than Aish in looks....well just my opinion...does not have to go with the crowd
