Listening to an unheard of band named El Capitan from the US. The album is called "What Ails You". It's very easy listening and is described as being "Californian mountain music". The song I recommend most is "Silo Song".

I am into Classics, Recentley been to my village with some friends in a ceremony i heard some Durga Devotees playing mediums and sitting around a huge drum whole night chanting and singing. I requested one of my friends to record that and other people singing whole night. i am listening to DURGA now most of the time, takes me to Rural,Arid Desert people right away.

If I'm decorating or doing some artwork on goes Nirvana or The Eels.. the music gives me inspiration and puts me in the mood to experiment with paint and textures.. plus I end up with a really wacky room or picture!
Chill out time is usually something classical, often Puccini, especially Madam Butterfly.
Then there are the in between times with REM, Pearl Jam, Green Day or some old 60s stuff from my Mod days.

Was listening to the chants of the Gyuto monks - Mahakala in particular while driving to work this morning. The experience is surreal

My new favorite! Instant Karma- Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur. GREAT Lennon music by various artists. And GREAT cause. You can find on Amazon.com if not at your neighborhood music store.

Mack the Knife, err, six versions queued up

Fitzgerald+Ellington, Armstrong, Ute Lemper, Oscar Peterson and Peterson+Itzak Perlman.

"From a tug boat by the river
A cement bag's dropping down
The cement's just for the weight, dear
Bet you Mack is back in town"

Armstrong is the favourite!

Hey there Delilah, Plain White T's. Nice love song.

Next, 99 Problems, Jay z. The rapper is at his fiery best in this song.
