Also try out Toumani Diabates Symmetric Orchestra - Boulevard de l'Independance
Taj Mahal and Toumani Diabate - Kulanjan.

Also a great Kinks fan - brilliant songs and lyrics.

Currently listening to Kate Bush - Ariel
and before that Peter Gabriel - Up

RHCP - Organic anti beat box band
Oasis - Champagne supernova
Tom Petty - Last dance with Mary Jane

Yes, I feel 90s... but have not been smoking.

inspired to listen to tom waits myself
song: step right up

on a side note and somewhat india related, Tom Waits was in my ex girlfriends yoga class in Sebastapol, Ca. My guess was that his doctor told him to do it. (doctors are pretty liberal in that area)

I would have paid to see that - a glass of JD in one hand and a cigarette in the other while assuming the lotus position.
