By the great Vinnie Reilly - The Durutti Column - Keep Breathing - CD - great drumming on the first 2 & track 12 by 60 odd year old jazz drummer - can't stop playing this CD - highly recomended.

Genre - Carnatic

syama sastri is one of the trinity, three great composers in the carnatic genre of music. he lived in the late 1700's and composed many many songs..a lot of them on goddess kamakshi. he is supposedly the architect of the swarajati musical form. in this album, t m krishna sings the three very popular, the one above and other two in ragam bhairavi and todi respectively

raag gorakh kalyan is a personal favorite. put sanjeev abhyankar voice to it...very peaceful..

Maha Ganapatim by Muttaswamy Diksitar. They play this at the opening of most Bharatanatyam recitals and many Carnatic music performances. Doesn't matter who performs it; I get chills every time I hear this!
