I'm in a serious retro-rap mood these days. I listened to "Fight The Power" by Public Enemy, and "I Go To Work" by Kool Moe Dee

A week ago, I was listening to Tabla Beat Science ... VERY cool album, in my opinion.

Picked up the soundtrack to "Out of Africa" in the bargain bin yesterday. Track 6 Karen's Journey includes Siyawe - traditional african folk music. Wow good stuff - although there is no other information on it??? Anybody an expert on this type of African music and if so - know other available tracks/cds like it???

Thanks Luckywoman - your info gives me something to work with. I'm sure the folk music in Africa is quite vast once one delves into it - I was bit surprised that the music credits on the soundtrack didn't give any credit at all to the artist or the country of origin of that nice piece.

We went to see Mahmoud Ahmed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London yesterday evening at the age of over 60 he can still swing, he has a tremendous voice, great drummer and bass player, sound was excellent played for 1hour 35minutes, this is the 2nd time we have seen this Ethiopian great this year, both times he and the band were excellent and again great sound quality.

He/they did 2 sets at last years WOMAD festival for me pers. the highlight of the week end.

Tremendous stuff.
If you get a chance to see him, don't think you'll be disapointed his concerts are rare as chickens teeth.

Rotation wise

Be-Bop Deluxe - Axe Victim - cd
Alabama 3 - Hello...I'm Jonny Cash & Let it Slide [tracks]

Peace
