Tooting my own "Horn OK Please"

Well, it's finally here, and I'm going to toot my own horn for a moment or two, so please forgive the blatantly commercial nature of this post: After four trips in three years, my "Indian Soundscapes" double CD is released and available for purchase. 36 tracks covering two hours, all packed into a lovely handmade wooden box. To read the full blurb, hear a short sample recorded in Pushkar, and even buy the damn thing, go to this location: SOLEILMOON. There's another track already uploaded here on India Mike called "Pineapple ", which you can find in the audio section of the uploads page. The CD includes a 12 page booklet of photos I took around India, some of which have already been posted in my gallery

Supposedly Apple will add it to their iTunes Music Store in two or three weeks, for all you iPod freaks, but seeing how slowly they've been working on adding other new releases I wouldn't hold my breath. Besides being available from Soleilmoon, by next week it'll be for sale at Forced Exposure, and select hip stores nationwide. In Japan visit Digital Narcis. In Europe you'll be able to order from Staalplaat. As far as getting copies in India, that's still up in the air. When I have more information I'll post it here. Thank you all for reading.

Apple just upped the size of everyone's .mac accounts, and to celebrate, as well as toot my own damn horn just a little MORE, I'm uploading the first 9 tracks from disc 1 of "Indian Soundscapes" for everyone to download and hear for FREE: Go to this link and find the tracks.

There's also a crazy little movie in there of three girls going insane at the bus stop by my work back in August. It's poorly lit so it's hard to see much, but the audio's hilarious.

Thanks iyou, these recordings really transport you to another world.

I remember a fellow passenger who recorded the sounds of the toy train journey down from Ooty... who knows why, maybe for similar purposes?

Hi Ikuru,

I used a sony mini disk recorder with Soundman in-ear binaural microphones. When you're recording you look like you're listening to music--totally non-threatening compared to sticking a giant mic in someone's face.

I edited on my PowerBook using Peak and Pro-Tools (free version).

.mac accounts cost $99.95 per year, but like so many things Mac, you get a lot more than 250MB of webspace. You get the whole yummy Apple user experience.

Just a little more Horn OK Please tooting and then I might shut up. "Indian Soundscapes" is now available for previewing and downloading at Apple's fabulous iTunes Music Store. Put it on your iPod, baby. If you have the iTunes software installed on your computer you can click this link and be magically transported away to the Indian Soundscapes page in the iTunes Music Store.

I should mention that this will only work in the United States. The UK/DE/FR iTunes Stores will add it later. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Im on a Imac myself. Mac is ofcourse better than the stupid PC.... Do you use a soundcard or do you think the built in card is all you need for music etc?

The built-in sound is fine for this kind of work. An add-on card would be better, of course, but considering that the source is a mini-disc, which compresses the recordings, I don't think it's so bad.
