I am cutting a feature film, and Ramon appears throughout, so there will be more. Hopefully I'll get some distribution and you'll all be able to see it (though if not I'll try to go the dvd route...) Thanks again for the feedback, it's good to read- I hate working in a vacuum!
Did you see the adventures of LIron as well? She's not as charming, but a lot cuter www.lonelyplanet.tv/cameragirlnyc |

Typical New Yorker in India!
Has anyone seen this video? I found it browsing the web yesterday. Kudos to the person who shot and edited this.

That was really funny. Do you have more parts to this trip on video?

Sorry for bumping this up but I thought the two videos were fantastic. Sure there was a bit of moaning but he was clearly (in the first) someone uninformed expecting something else. His experience in the ticket office was classic. "4 windows open and four guys all taking a lunch break" (parahprased) brought a huge smile to my face. Being told the computer is not working by the clerk with a big sign in Hindi and and then getting help on his form from the very guy who tried to push in front of him! I wonder if the concept of an orderly queue will ever make its way into an Indian railway station. We always, without fail, experience these or similar 'problems' when we visit India. It's fine and well if you're used to it or are aware of it but if you've come from a different country and have no idea of it then it's going to confuse the hell out of you.
He seemed to have much more of a "grit your teeth and get on with it" kind of attitude in the second video and India is full to the rafters of people with that kind of thinking. Far more than in places like America or England. I've just come back from my yearly trip to India and this video evokes a lot of memories, making me nostalgic for India again. Sleeper class on the trains, the traffic, the food, whatever. I remember when I was a small kid and being absolutely terrified of the toilets on an Indian train. I imagine this fella felt the same way I did when I was 5 or 6. Look at his facial expression with the beggars on the train, its just natural and obviously something he's never seen before. "Like a kick up the ass" is probably very true. And even now everytime I purchase food in India I'm always converting it back to £GBP and gawk at amazement at how cheap the meal was. I'm sure there are tons and tons of travel videos, films and documentaries about India. I dont think there are enough like this. It's all well and good showing grand videos of temples and mountains but there's not enough documentation of someone's travels in India and how they react to different aspects of life. Plenty of books though I'm sure. |
