I have seen this film and I feel it is certainly not Mira's best film. It doesn't leave a profound effect on the viewers like her Monsoon Wedding or Saalam Bombay.
Tabu did a wonderful job but her Bengali accent is far from normal. Over all a good film and worth watching. |

kristinm -- no, they're just some other travelers. ashok is not married to anyone before he marries ashima, and has no other children. this doesn't come off so well because irfan just doesn't look the age he's supposed to be in that scene, like 20 or so if i recall correctly.

It was the only thing that confused me - I've just read a nice interview with Mira Nair in the magazine that comes with our Saturday paper ... she certainly has a great life!
