The Motorcycle Diaries....! how Che Guevara was made

A movie i dont mind watching again, again, and again.
The Motorcycle Diaries, is a latin american movie (Spanish).Ernesto
Fuser, and his friend Alberto Granedo, two youngsters from Argentina
decide to travel to the end of South American continent, on a
motorcycle. Fuser is intelligent, honest, poised and exploring where
as his friend is a typical funloving and tactful latino. In Chile,
they had to sell their motorcycle for crap. They continue their
journey.
The travel, and the people whom they meet in their travel, change
their lives ! Poverty, slavery, domination of rich over the poor. The
scenes and scenes behind the scenes influence Fuser's beliefs and
ideologies. Before they part, they work in Peru in a lepracy camp.
On his 24th b'day, Fuser and his friend decide to think seriously of
their future to come. And in the party at the lepracy camp, Fuser
delivers a simple speech in which he talks about the need for united
latin america. The friends split to choose their ways.

Years later, Ernesto Fuser, the medical student and chronic asthmatic
turns in to Ernesto Che Guevara, the man behind the cuban revolution,
the contemporary revolutionist.

This movie doesnt show the heroism of Che. This movie touches upon
the aspects of the birth of Che in a really simple way. Fuser's
complex thoughts are presented in the simple letters he wrote to his
mother. Untill towards the end of the movie, you wouldnt even realize
that this is the story of a revolutionist hero Che. Such a serious
subject is presented in a simple, loveable, and touching form ! The
music, camera, acting, locations...!! I must say, this is one of the
best movies I've seen in my whole life ! There are some people like
Walter Salles, who know how to make a movie :-). The director has paid
special attention to even the most minute details of picking the
performers, including those who appaear for just a few seconds, in
the whole movie. (U'd find them every part of the world..its just
that they speak different languages !)

I dont want to oversell and kill the spirit. All I want to tell you
is, PLEASE WATCH THIS MOVIE. Its english name is "The Motorcycle
Diaries". Check out this website.

I'm sure you will love this movie & it will give you a different exeperience altogether !!
Cheers

Hi Usha,

The film is well known as he won an Oscar last year for the best film song.

My question now is: Have we open in Indiamike a new cinema section???

It is a great movie. I just spent the last few weeks in Peru and whenever the subject of movies came up (quite often), Motorcycle Diaries was always recommended by people from many different countries. I guess most travelers enjoy "foreign" movies.

But it's non-fiction, they're his diaries! I haven't read it but hear it's funny in that it portrays him as basically a total carefree and naive hippie with not too many social concerns.

He starts out fairly carefree, but what he sees and experiences during the trip changes him. He was from a fairly affluent family and hadn't been exposed to the hardships that so many people suffer. It's affect on him was truly life-changing.

I actually didn't care for it much. I think I expected more after hearing everyone rave about it.

It was just okay

"But it's non-fiction, they're his diaries"

Cmon no one swallows that anymore except "associates" of Bill Clinton. None the less a flick is a good way to live out fantasy for an hour or two..
