The best travellogue ever!

I just finished reading the first part of the travels by a Mark Bass and really must recommend this to all of you. Rarely have I read such a funny and especially acurate description of Indian travel.

Thanks for the link, trvl_in, it's a very interesting and useful read (for anyone planning to backpack that way in India, which hopefully I will be).

I enjoyed the first half of the book immensely, but never got forwarded the password for the second half. Disappointed.

a useful reading no doubt, for aspiring backpackers (to reduce the initial shock)

but where is India in this??? for what i know, the guy might be travelling anywhere - Peru, Thailand, Zimbabwe - just change names of places and currencies...

disclaimer: i have not read the second part, may be he is getting to the point, but i could not even finish the first part.

I finished reading the second half of the diary--thanks to Steven-ber e-mailing it to me.
I have to say I was disappointed with the 2nd half (and wonder if that's why the password never got mailed--perhaps he didn't get good feedback with it)
I got tired of reading it because I was tired of his travel-weary, culture-shocked attitudes. It made me realize there is a great reason why those who actually publish and sell their travelogues are so far and few in between.
I agree with volga-volga in that I found very little India in the diary--though I don't know India yet at all
And the India I will visit next month will be completely different from his (or other backpackers) since I will only be there 3 weeks, staying with an Indian family and travelling around by car.
But still, I got the impression that he was travelling in India with very little interest in India itself.....
