Solo women travellers - feedback re India? Penpals, info?

Hi there

Isn´t this a great place.. I´ve been reading bits here and there and it´s making me want to go to India more and more.. in the near future as a single female.

Are there any other females out there who have been there, travelling alone, and what would you advise to single women travellers to India? I´ve already travelled alone to Turkey (4 times backpacking and loved it) Egypt (hated it, nothing but hassle, was backpacking). I know about dressing modestly.. what about other things?

I´m interested in the possibilities of living there permanently if I find I like it as much as I think I might.. so I´m interested in that side of things too if anyone knows anything. I´m European if that makes any difference.

I´m probably going to go towards the south because the climate seems better down there to me, I loathe being cold in any shape or form!

I´m also interested in spirituality in India, in general.. communities, gurus..

And you'll probably get plenty of PMs from ....err gentlemen wanting to help you out! But this is the internet, it is public so......

I'd say, don't even think about living here until you know, from experience of the country itself, that you want to!
