Short Cut to Nirvana: Kumbh Mela
I just saw "Short Cut to Nirvana: Kumbh Mela", a new film by Maurizio Benazzo and Nick Day. It's a loving homage to the 2001 Maha Kumbh Mela, held on the outskirts of Allahabad, at the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Interviews with gurus, pilgrims and visitors from all over the world, including the Dalai Lama, although he's not actually interviewed, per se, but there's footage of what seems like a sermon-cum-press conference (ever notice how everything in India is something-cum-something-else? What's up with that?). A lot of it had me smiling, and even laughing at a few others. I recommend it to anyone interested in India, which means pretty much everyone visiting IndiaMike.
