recommended reading?

I'm going to India for the first time in less than two weeks. I'd like to bring along a book to read. I was hoping someone can recommend some good books about travel India. I'm not referring to guide books but travel writing.
thanks.

Certainly bring ONE book with you. I find that India is the best place to find books on India.

The books are also much more affordable.
