NorCal IM Meet for Bollywood Movie Paheli

Any Northern California IMers want to go see a Bollywood movie at the Indian Movie theater on Sunday June 26 for an early show? (This is a quickie, with only 4 days notice)

The new Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, movie directed by Amol Palekar is opening on Friday June 24. It is going to be showing at the Naz8 in Fremont California.

I’m planning to be there on Sunday for an early afternoon show, 2,3, or 4 o’clock.

This is the movie http://www.pahelithefilm.com/ Its billed as a cross between an art film and commercial Bollywood. It stars, SRK, Rani, Amitabh Bachchan. The director, Amol Palekar has acted in a number of really great (art) films from the 1970s, including “Gol Mal”. He is now a director of “woman’s” oriented “art” films. It should be a good flick!!

Sounds like fun.
I can go to either the 3 or 4 o'clock show.

GREAT! We (Bijapuri, and I) are going to the 3 o'clock show on Sunday 26th. We'll see if anyone else besides us wants to go too. We will nail down details friday or sat.

Usually first run films are announced Thursday (tomorrow) and they have showings every hour for the first weekend. I've seen the previews, this movie should be great fun.

We currently have three for the movie at the Naz8 for the 3 o'clock show Sunday. IMers - Bijapuri, Jadeskirt, and me Byronic. Any other takers?

The movie has been getting glowing reviews on all the major Bollywood web sites. Taran Adarsh at indiaFM.com gave Paheli 4 stars, which is the first time he has done that for a BW film in over a year. The movie is also a Shahrukh and Rani movie, who have HUGE fan followings right now. This means the movie is going to sell out at the theater. In light of that, Bij and I are going to get tickets an hour or so in advance (PM me if you want to arrange for us to get you a ticket?) Then we plan to wait in line for about a 1/2 hour to get a decent seat.

This is the warm-up for the big North Cal IM meet later next month..
