New here, with a question...trying to get my hands on a ravanhatta

Hi I'm Patrick and I need a favor. Over the past few weeks I have been trying to get my hands on a ravanhatta, a stick fidddle used by the bhopa community in rajasthan. But, alas, no success. There are simply none to be had, ebay, amazon, I know no nobody from india and I am not in the position to be travelling there myself. Any assistence in where to buy one or where else to ask would be greatly appreciated.

ps. should i have posted all that in a different forum?

Welcome to the site! Try this shop in New York City.

And I'll move this to to the music thread.

Hi Patrick, welcome to the site and good luck with your search.

Is this wanted for a collection / exhibition or have you somehow learned to play?

Suggest you include the instrument name in the thread title*: those with such specialised knowledge might, or might not reply to a thread that looks like a general intro that might include a travel question. Ways to get the most out of the site!

Speaking of which... Welcome!

*click on the EDIT button on your post and then click the Go Advanced button: the advanced-edit screen allows the title to be changed, the quick-edit does not.

Well I have a collection of stuff/instruments from other countries but I'm more interested in playing it than having it hanging on a wall. I don't know how to play it but I think I could. I would change the title but I think there's a 90 second time limit?

If you can't change it, you can request a moderator to do so (names on the homepage, just click)

I sent a note to the mods to come and have a look.

There is a time limit on editing, but, on this forum, I think it is days. Certainly not seconds!

I have modified the title to include the name of the musical instrument.

Pedant of the month, actually!

Patrick, let us know how you get on - if you do manage to find one, post a picture of it, because I confess I haven't the faintest idea what it looks like.

Need help with finding a Ravanhatta

I just discovered the Ravanhatta and would love to play one of these. Does anyone have any info where to buy one of these? I totally fell in love with its sounds. Thanks.
