Namesake reversed? Quest for a book
Ok,
I have just finished reading "The Namesake" and absolutely loved it. I have since seen the film and found it very moving, and wasn't disapointed by the adaptation. In a nutshell it's about Indians who move to the USA, their struggle to adapt and their children who grow up as young Americans with an Indian influence. I really want to know if there are books or stories about the same problems reversed. For example, a US or UK couple who moved to India 20 years ago or so and raised their children in India. I'm really intrigued to know if their are any families out there who are experiencing this. How do the children feel? If they are seen physically as pardesi, but they have lived their whole lives in India? How do they feel when they visit the family in the US or UK? If you know of any novels treating this subject please post here! Or if you are one of these people, please share your experiences. Victoria |
