I did use to work in an indian film shop when I was in college.. I blame my dad, he always wanted to run away and become a hero in asian films...

films are such a personal choice, it depends on what genre you like. I liked both "Rising: Ballad Of Mangal Pandey" and "Fanaa".

But the again I love old 70's movies. What I would recommend is maybe buy a few cheapy ones of off ebay and getting a feel for what you like. Or let us know what sort of english films you like and maybe people here can recommend suitable indian counterparts.

unfortunately yes, thats what you get when you work in "a guy's world". The male egos in IT makes you that way... I should learn to turn the other cheek...

fortunately for you maltabella, these films are made for wide international release and so any local indpendent/foreign movie rentals shops will carry these....

i dont watch typical bollywood movies and so i cant help you there...seems like others have given you a wide cariety of choice...

thanx in advance,

here are some details off my bollywood dvd's (with english subtitles) - hope they help:

www.ultraindia.com

www.erosentertainment.com

www.sonybmg.co.in

for a modern indian film, you could try and get hold of 'dil chahta hai'. and for a good old b&w film, try 'anari' (both commercial films but worlds apart).

Has anybody seen "monsoon wedding"? I enjoyed it a lot and found it very tender, what do you think?
