Question Name That Tune

When I was in India, winter 05-06, there was a particular song being played all the time. I've got a feeling that the accompanying video was taken from a 'buddy-movie', featuring Vivek Oberoi, but I could be mistaken.

The chorus was a kind of soft, repetitive, rythmic chant, possibly with two or more voices; the verse was sung in a stronger, more soulful voice, which sounded, to my ears, similar to the 'ghazal' singers.

This tune became part of the soundtrack to my holiday & it'd be nice to listen to it again. If you were in (northern) India at this time, then you probably heard it. Any ideas?

No...but you could check bollywood movie releases during that period or before you arrived, maybe feat. Vivek oberoi... and check their soundtracks.

Yeah, I looked at his movies on Wikipedia, but that didn't get me anywhere. It's annoying 'cause the tune is still fresh in my head, but there's no way to pin it down.

Thumbs up

ok, lets guess, it may be "Saathiya Saathiya" from the film Saathiya. That song became quite popular and is used widely as theme music, ringtones, etc.

It is most likely the Saathiya theme.

robotvoice : jiya dhadak dhadak?

Jiya dhadak did not feature Vivek Oberoi.

Ah! I think that's it, robotvoice. I just looked at the lyrics to both 'Saathiya Saathiya' & 'Jiya Dhadak Dhadak Jaayen' & the latter's lyrics seem to fit with what I remember; repetitions & each line ending in (extended) vowels. I checked the lyrics on another site & I saw that the song is performed by Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, which reminded me of a time I heard the song on the radio… I was at an internet cafe in Sanchi when the song was playing. As it finished, I thought I heard the DJ say “Fateh Ali Khan”. I wondered whether the singer might have been related to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, so I asked the guy who was running the cafe “Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan? Relation?”, or something similar, & he immediately nodded. I figured he hadn’t understood what I was on about & was just humouring me. It now looks like it was Nusrat after all, but just not the dead one. I don't know where I got the Vivek Oberoi association from.

Anyway, I'll have to try & find somewhere that sells Bollywood music, so that I can check for certain that this is what I'm after (computer speakers are bust).
Thanks for the help, folks!

If you liked Suresh Oberai's song, you would love "Kisi Nazar ko tera.." from movie Aitbaar sung by Bhupinder. You can get it from Youtube. Listening would make you think that the song is ideal for Suresh Oberai's personality and voice. Following is the link:

hi all,
this would be a reverse question but has anybody seen Dhoom2? There is this nice portugese, brazilian, italian, french I don't know which country but an exotic background track/score which is there throughout the movie. It is kinda soft, sensual but can't place it. There is a way to get the movie but don't wanna waste the bandwidth to download 4 GB movie (approx. 4 days) & find the track/score & digitise it & know who sung it & the original song/material whatever it is. If somebody knows this please tell me, thnx in advance. I have downloaded all the tracks but it isn't in tht Thnx in advance

The song you're after is from the film KALYUG.If you go to
www.smashits.com then Hindi film music then the film name, all the songs from this film appear and you choose which one you want to listen to.The other version of this song is Tujhe Dekhe Dekhe, which is also very haunting.
If you have no luck,pm me and I'll try and send you a link, but will need your e-mail.
