Name of the movie???

Hello,

I need some help finding out the name of a film.

My boyfriend told me about a film he watched in China (it had been dubbed into Chinese). The storyline, as far as I can gather is as follows:

An English man, born in India leaves the country. Years later he returns and gets together with a local Indian girl in his village. The village is being threatened by local gangsters and a local ascetic that lives in a nearby cave tries to contact Hanuman the monkey god for help to save the village. The god Hanuman appears to the ascetic choosing the Englsih man as the one to help overcome the gangsters and save the village.

I know that sounds a little confusing (and it is 2nd hand information as I have never seen the film) but I would really like to find out the name of the film for him.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it!!!
