Namastey London !!

When I first heard of this movie, I pictured another one of those pathetic attempts at "taming of the shrew" kinda flick but after hearing some positive reviews, I decided to give it a shot. While entering the theatre I was still quite skeptical but I was pleasantly suprised to find the movie quite likable. The tone is set by the beautiful song which plays during the initial caps.

A wise guy once said that cinema is not about what story you present but how you present the story. And you can see that in this movie. You can predict the ending after seeing the first scene. The story is the age old one of a rich brat being taught the indian culture by a desi guy. But the way it is done is different

This movie had so much potential for jingoism and melodrama but thankfully it avoids all that. There is minimal chest beating about indian culture and no making fun of other cultures. The songs are quite nice. The casting is perfect. Akshay kumar is restrained, upen patel is forgettable, Kat is stunningly beautiful .. ah... kat.. <sigh>...!! anyways, so what was i saying .... ;-)

Namastey London is a cute little movie which is not all that special but it has its moments. You can watch it once. Go without any expectations and you will not be dissappointed.
