My Bleeding Punjab

Hello IMers,

Has anyone read My Bleeding Punjab by Khushwant Singh? Any reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have read short excerpts from it (provided to us by my work) and whatever I read was good/interesting and good but general insights into Punjabi culture. Not sure what you're looking for exactly.

Limaye,

Amazon didn't have reader reviews on the book, that's why I was looking for some kind of feedback on whether not it's worth purchasing. I eventually caved in and bought it anyway. Thanks for your response nonetheless.

Sam371,

How's the book? I was considering getting it myself. Do you recommend it?

I received it yesterday and even though I haven't begun reading it yet, it looks pretty informative and detailed. It is not a long/big book so it should be a quick read but the level of detail and newspaper and other press references tell me that Khushwant Singh did some good research into writing this book. Of course, the material is dated and the political situation has changed tremendously since the book was written (1991, i believe). Hope that helps. Also, I was able to buy it from Amazon under the "New & Used" link for $6.
