Angry Music to get you back to work?

this is very much off topic but I guess that many of us reading this site from their office PCs... so I am wondering what music you guys listen to while in the office? assuming you can use headphones at work.

i find it difficult to get focused on the report that I need to get out of the door today. and then two more. i was hoping there is a magical CD that can keep me focused on Word file rather than my internet browser

Strangely, after over 20 years of non-stop music of all kinds, I enjoy the sound of silence these days.

I guess you need something totally boring volga_volga that you don't even hear. How about one of those instrumental cover versions of well known pop songs that are played in supermarkets or perhaps an old Mantovani Strings collection? This would allow you to concentrate totally on your work!

Of course there is the hazard that you might fall asleep on your keyboard.

I listen to Sitar and other Indian classical music. Plus some talk radio and if I am in the mood some jazz, beatles, 70s funk etc...

This may help. . . .? They say that if you listen to Vivaldi's "The Season's" while working you will be more efficient, perhaps the same could apply to working. Maybe it is inspiring not only in exercise but all work?

As its an India site ...some Goa tranceusually does the job for me
Try and find Atmos ...its not the in your face variety but subdued with a driving beat ...really gives life and work a rythym

Try and find a guy called Tosca ...hard to categorise but is very beautiful electronic music ...it will bring a tear to a glass eye but also keep you tapping away and awake at your desk.

I find songs with lyrics kind of distract me so i tend to keep away from them in work.

Some good Dub reggae is also good ...King Tubby ...Mad Professor is very good

But for the full throttle 10,000 volts up the jacksie ...short bursts is all that is needed try Jet ...The Clash, or the Pistols ...

Let us know which selection you find works
BTW what is it that you actually do?

Oh should have said ...what about some Indian classical ...

Ustad Zakir Hussein's tabla is incredible and inspiring as is Hariprasad Chaurasia on flute but I find Inidan flute very relaxing and probably not the stimulus you need

Perhaps we could release an India Mike CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Where everyone has in suggestions ...One song only and if there are some more popular than others they get the call but if a tie then the forum votes ...Granted this is not taking into account copyright etc etc ...but its a nice dream and in the era of downloads we could all produce our own copy of the same songs ...

we could have a happening!!!!!!
At an appointed time we all start listening to the CD and log on to IM!!!!!!!!!!!

what (sort of) worked for me is:

Spanish language rap (used to be french rap but the novelty wore off)
Bollywood soundtracks (esp that I don't understand a thing)
Russian rock (what I was listening to durng univ days, equivalent to your Pistols)

I must admit I have NEVER listened to the Indian classical music. Where should I start? anything on the Web?

Bryan, i work for a company that spends loads of money on all sorst of sports, incl cricket. Am on the road to Lisbon tomorrow

That's a very cool idea Bryan.
I suggest...hmmm...got to be careful here and
make a good choice, or else it'll end up like the
chai-beer deba(te)cle...

so, after a considered decision making process the Dublin Jury
awards 10 points to

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - pt. 1

It was a difficult choice, but Bryan has already suggested he will put a Psy Trance song up...so I reckoned something different was needed, in the interest of balance of course.

what are other people gonna suggest?

Troglodytus

And as for something to listen to...
some Pink Floyd, Pipers at the Gates of Dawn. sure to keep you awake, well, at least until the movements have been completed.

The boss' firing(though not exactly music to one's ears!) should be enough to get one back to work, shouldn't it?

If I'd known you worked in sports Volga I could have asked you to get me a ticket for Seville last year hahahaha ...

I put a post on last month requesting websites to listen to classical Indian
Never got a recommendation but a few recommendations for Bollywood music ...

Nice choiceworld in a cave
Volga can you recommend some Russian rock I'm always uinterested in hearing new music so may try and find some on the net

I buy most of my Classical in an Asian music shop in Glasgow though i always pick loads up when I'm in India ...I'm sure you'll find a similar shop in London and I'd imagine Amazon have lots available

AS for my trance recommendation

I will scour my collection tonight and find a tune to bounce around a beach/mountain to and post it on
