Mumbai: July 13: Boman Irani, others - DVD relase - Little Zizou
On Monday, July 13 - some cast and crew of the movie Little Zizou
will be present for a panel discussion and Q and A to celebrate of the launch of the DVD of this movie. The director, Sooni Taraporevala, will definitely be participating, too. Sooni T was scriptwriter for most of Mira Nair's movies (Namesake, Monsoon Wedding). She and almost all of the cast are from the Parsi community of Bombay. Movie is about the Parsis - light and funny - I liked it and saw it twice. If I were in Bombay I'd go to this thing - if anybody does, please come back and tell us if there was a big Parsi turnout and what kinds of topic got raised, etc. TIME AND PLACE Location - Landmark, Infiniti Mall, Andheri West. Time - Monday, July 13, 6:30-7:30 pm. Last edited by NeeliAankhen : Jul 6th, 2009 at 23:37. |

That looks like a lotta fun, NeeliAankhen
Darn, not going to Bombay this visit Thanks for the heads-up though, just went ahead and added Little Zizou to my netflix queue. A spin on Romeo and Juliet...I'm not usually big on sap but this looks different. |

Hi Namaste Cat - glad if you get interested in that movie as I liked it a lot, twice.
You know I'd never describe it as a Romeo and Juliet story - I am thinking that that's the Netflix blurb-writing department, which is hit and miss. I had to think to come up with what they meant - there are a boy and girl in it but I don't think their families even oppose their match. Interestingly and annoyingly, I find a huge number of Hindi movies being described om western write-ups as Romeo and Juliet stories when they are not - it seems to be the default write-up!! In case you're interested in other writing about Little Zizou or any Indian film - I like (and sometimes participate in) this forum http://www.bollywhat-forum.com/index.php?topic=24725.0 --this should take you to the Little Zizou page Last edited by NeeliAankhen : Jul 9th, 2009 at 02:50. Thanks for the link
Glad to see it's not the usual Bollywood talk b/c that ain't my scene. Never cared for the singing and dancing in the rain w/ vulgar moves stuff w/ hackneyed plots, same ole music for "sad" vs "happy" vs another emotion scenes, and so on. But gimme Indie movies, anything w/ substance and I'm there! Quote:
![]() Will post when I get back to the States and watch the movie. It's listed as "unknown" availability, so looks like I'm in for a long wait. |
