back from the dead...
It's been awhile since I came here again... littlegirlanne, the best place for you to get bollywood movies is in Simron, Little india or assad's in UN Avenue, Manila. They have hundreds of titles there (although it's pretty hard to sort it all out... since bollywood releases about 800++ movies in a year).
Best recommendation is to read reviews on line on the best bollywood classics or say new classics in movie sites. There's tons of review sites that will features bollywood flicks. Recommendations from friends are also good, at least you can blame someone if it wasn't to your liking!! hahahah the dvd copies are kinda pricey, 350. The vcd's are about 100-150. Lagaan and Dil chahte hain, and monsoon wedding is great for starters. If you think you're upto it, we could meet up anywhere in makati and exchange notes marga

Last weekend, I watched Kung Fu Hustle and couldnt help myself from recommending it
. It has got some awesome action sequences which keep on rolling one after the other and is so funny. Seems like Stephen Chow is taking over Hong Kong after Jackie Chan left for Hollywood. The comedy is there without the people making funny faces, so in a sense much better than the JC fares. All in all an action packed drama. A must watch ![]() |

Okay, another one
![]() Watched "CRASH" today, and its simply awesome. No wonder it got so many academy awards this year. It describes 2 days of the life of a city and some characters and their ideas and reactions to the different question a multi-racial society throws on them. The picture it paints of LA is scary but somehow you feel that there is some hope. Matt Dillon is excellent, in that sense every actor played their part to perfection. I mean there is lot already written about this movie. If you havent watched it yet.. go, run. It gives a very realistic view of the most common human trait "RACISM" |

Babel : Highly recommended! A bit contrived at times, but quite a thought-provoking movie!
Amazing performances as well. With as many as six languagues sharing screen time, you end up reading subtitles a lot ![]() |

Just watched Mar adentro (Spanish) .. titled 'The Sea Inside' in English.
Based on a quadriplegic patient demanding euthanasia. I think it also got the Oscar for Best Foriegn Language Film of the year (can't recall which year though). Awesome movie ! Highly recommended. Last edited by machadinha : Jul 30th, 2007 at 03:03. Reason: merged threads |

For the last few months, I've really been getting back into my action flicks. One recent one I saw was Die Hard 4, not as good as part 1 or 3, but still good. One movie I wouldn't suggest is the Simpsons Movie. Just awful, and humourless.

Here's my pick from some Hollywood movies I happened to watch recently.
1. 12 Angry Men - no words can describe, awesome direction and as splendid cast. 2. Philadelphia Story - Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and James Stewart, amazing movie, with excellent dialogues and wit from start to end. 3. It's a wonderful Life - heart warming James Stewart acted Frank Capra movie 4. Arsenic and Old Lace - a strange yet brilliant comedy starring Cary Grant 6. Blood Simple - First of the coen brothers' movie - awesome 7. Fargo - another one from Coen brothers 8. Dr Strangelove - a satire, but beautifully taken movie. 9. MASH - no explanation required. 10. Best Years of our Lives - A heart wrenching movie about life of 3 soldiers after World War II. Too good a direction and flawless acting. 11. On the waterfront - Wonderful acting by Marlon Brando |
